In the 1940s, a set of Nature Plates was issued primarily to hang on school classroom walls. I well recall them adorning the corridor walls of my own junior school in the early 1950s. They were the work of Eileen Soper, and very beautiful and informative. To go with the plates, a set of stories was written, and these were published by Macmillan in 1945 and 1946, (see Natural history page). There are 30 story books (readers) with two stories in each book, and 60 plates, so each book covers two plates. In the list of stories below, the plate no. is shown in brackets, and in the list of plates, which details the particular lesson to be taught by the story, the story no. is shown in brackets. There is a reference book to the plates, by Prof. L. J. F. Brimble, published by Macmillan in 1949 which gives chapter and verse (see Natural history page).
