The first book in the Blackwell 'Secrets' series was
Enid Blyton's first foray into writing full-length stories. Historically, therefore, the publication event is significant
in that it presages the eventual appearance of The Famous Five, (in 1942), arguably the most successful series of children's
books ever, (the jury is still out on Harry Potter). Jack, Mike, Nora, Peggy and Prince Paul make up the full complement of
adventurers.

All the books were published by Blackwell.
The Secret Island (ill. by E. H. Davie)
